New Twitter Account/Update on Video

Posted by Cherry-Garnet - 1 month ago

So I decided to make a new Twitter account due to getting tired of the negativity on the old one. I kept the same username, but the plan is to try and focus on my art and story ideas on this new Twitter account. On the other account I just got tired falling deep into politics, the usual Twitter arguments, and seeing constant generalizations of the way people were born. It's not fun constantly seeing that stuff and for what? Just to get constant gratification for negative behavior through likes and retweets? It really bothers me people keep rewarding such bad behaviors on Twitter.

Moving on, I have completed forty seconds of my musical video for my first YouTube video. I know I said I wanted to finish by August, but it looks like this might take until Christmas because I want everything to look and go right. BTW, this is a sketch animatic video, not an animation. I've been planning this for about three years, and I feel like this is the year I want to put one of my ideas out there. Wish me luck!

Zuckerberg taking notes on Elon like "Nazi salute bad. Everything else good?" I'm in the process of removing all my data from Facebook, the dopamine just isn't what it used to be :p

I just think when it comes to social media moderation is needed. I refuse to join Facebook because of all the things that was mentioned about the website. For example, they hold onto your data even when you delete your account. ^n^; Also, they want you to use your real name when you join their website and I'm not comfortable with that.

This Why I'm not signing up with Twitter cuz,
All hate speech and politics.

People are free to say what they want on that website or any website, but they shouldn't be shocked by the responses they get. Sometimes what makes it so bad is that there would be other people actually agreeing with really bad opinions. The things I saw for the last couple of days has completely made my mind up in cutting out that stuff. I like Twitter for artistic and entertainment reasons, but I just can't stand the assholes on it.

@Cherry-Garnet You have no idea how hard this just set my nuerons off. I'm over here doing math in my head like that meme...

I hear you, moderation is valuable but also an interestingly double edged sword. Having to watch huge people like John Cleese and Dave Chapelle complain about censorship was so disappointing because they went most of their careers just ignoring it. Feedback on social media just blew their brains out. John Oliver has the right idea IMO, his episode on trans athletes is massively downvoted but he just puts out another episode the next week on another topic and doesn't addresses backlash unless it's in a comedic fasion. There's definatly a "free speech" aspect that the internet should maintain for the sake of exposing people to differing viewpoints but as a trans person myself I get threads on Facebook in my feed of "trans stories" astroturfed with thousands of replies and millions of views like "yOu CaN't ChAnGe YoUr GeNdEr." Meanwhile I changed my gender, my full legal name, and these same people will hit on me at Wal-Mart because they have no fucking clue. Society is obsessed with punching down on trans people at a time when they should be worried about rights for minorities and women backsliding, fascism, religous violence, economic inequality, plastics increasingly polluting our bodies, book bans...

"Free speech" belongs to bot farms right now.

People should be allowed to use whatever names they want to use. An ounce of annonymity is part of what makes the internet what it's always been. At a certain point society needs to identify when an issue is being used to manipulate us against each other and when that "free speech" is just flat out bigotry. I personally remember being 12 and jumping on AIM NYC chatrooms while pretending to be a 14 year old girl, cat fishing older men into meeting me places irl and just not showing up. It took me many years to fully appreciate what I was doing with my annonymity, who those men were, and why it's both distrubing and funny. So what's the point I'm trying to make?

Honestly, I have no clue. I'm still calculating pi over here like a cat trying to open a can of cat food. I just can't do it, I have these wittle cat paws. I saw the human use their thumbs, this has something to do with thumbs...

Try not to worry about the assholes too much and maybe even let them inspire you. A couple of my asshole characters are based off people on Twitter and Tumblr. I have also done the opposite where I have based characters off good people I met. It still scares me that I almost became an extremist, and I think what upsets me even more is the same assholes won't address their assholish behavior like I did. Especially with websites like Twitter, or X, rewarding it. So I decided to just give Twitter the Bluesky treatment. Follow people I like and focus on art.

As much as I get annoyed by people being extremists online and, yes, I have reported some of them, at the end of that day I think they should say what they want. I believe in karma, and I have seen people's bad behavior backfire on them later in life. Plus, we get to see what type of person they are if someone ever chooses to expose them. The only exception is if their actions took place years and ago maybe they're sorry. Plus, it depends on what they did. Sometimes I'm willing to offer the benefit of the doubt for some people. It's when they continue being assholes and haven't grown one bit that's the problem.

^^; Also I've had people hit on me at Wal-Mart too. I can't help, but to get disgusted because some of them were either too old or weren't my type. I usually try to move on from it.
